Night School is a mobile cinema program for displaced Sudanese operating in Sudan, Uganda and Chad. Rooted in the Sudanese tradition of nafeer - collective action - Night School is inspired by many instances of community cinema and civic education, both within Sudan and around the world.

As the war in Sudan continues to polarize Sudanese society, Night School addresses the urgent need for safe, neutral spaces to gather and engage in dialogue. The film clubs holds weekly events, screening international documentaries and fiction films around themes of nonviolent resistance, solidarity, mutual aid and human rights. The stories are told through a non- western lens, offering diverse perspectives and creative approaches on a range of topics relevant to the Sudanese context. Each screening is followed by a facilitated discussion.

In the next phase, we are focusing on supporting film production, enabling the clubs to make and screen films about their own communities. This approach will build a holistic ecosystem of production and distribution.
